day 2 was a little overcast, but perfect temp for running. after yet another great breakfast, we loaded up the van and headed to eagle crest trail where we met up with locals rachel, brian and glen. a few in the group didn't want to climb as much, so they headed out on a flatter route with brian. the rest of us headed UP again!
here's ben hauling ass up the eagle crest trail to mount troy. this part was kool - climbed up, around and through snow, creeks and marshes for about an hour.
chad taking one of a thousand pics. this guy is insane and i loved running with him!
some pics from the top of mount troy (i think) . . .
our album cover shot . . .
beautiful . . .
me and chris . . .
once we hit the top, we came down the dan moller bowl to the treadwell ditch trail, and ultimately the douglas trail. great shot of this section which was very 'rain foresty' . . .
we finished up with 3:40 on the clock and just over 12 miles. total vertical for the day was 3000'. had a chance to run with geoff through the last section of trail - what a fascinating and humble person.
after dinner, geoff was talking about running and how he becomes comfortable in a community once he gets to know the terrain. he said it took him almost a year to get used to juneau, because it was so different than what he was used to, and how much he loves it now. he also talked about running how you feel, and that it shouldn't matter how far or how fast. i love it!
oh ya - we saw a couple of killer whales surfacing in the water in front of the cabin - kool kool kool !
