are you f*cking kidding me ...

so wednesday came and a bunch of us at crossfit bolton who had signed up for the 2012 crossfit games were anxiously awaiting the first workout. once i got rid of the girls at ghetto, i dashed upstairs to my trusty computer, clicked on the site and read the following ...

i repeat, 'are you fucking kidding me!!!' burpees - my least favorite exercise! and as if i wasn't already doing the gawd-awful things for our 115 royal burpee challenge! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! AND it wasn't just a burpee like i normally do - as in jump up randomly and clap - but i had to touch, with both hands, an object 6' above my outstretched fingertips! for gawd sakes! i went in to the club on thursday, and had father jimmy set me up. 'okay kendra, you have to hit your chest on the ground, and then jump up and hit the rings - every time - or they don't count'. a bunch of my friends were there cheering me on - lisa, jay, lori, kane - hiiiiiiiiiiiii kane - and andy and jess. lisa made sure one of my favorite songs was playing - 'outta your mind' by lil jon and lmfao - as father jimmy set the clock to zero. 3,2,1, go ... and i was off! stoopid burpees!

so as i hit the rings for the last time, and tumbled to the ground, my final count was 86. i'm really happy with that - and no, i don't want to try again!! big big thanks to father jimmy and all my amazing friends who cheered me on !!

and CHECK THIS OUT !!! ahahaha! my favorite redheaded nephew got his hair done again - this time forgoing the 'wolf look' for a more 'punk rock' style! note that he's decorating cookies WITHOUT me!

i dragged moose out with me thursday afternoon for some hill repeats on the dingle! traction was great and we stomped around, up and down for about 90 minutes!

no brownies for me ...

just LOOK who was at friday night club last week - KANE - hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii kane!!

and i was partnered up with my fave awesome chick lisa for some ring dips and double unders!

great group! we all kicked ass !!!

we had a bit of snow saturday, so i was able to sneak out on the dions around 5 for an hour of stomping in palgrave.

i figured it was one of the last/only chances i would have before heading to vermont next week!

sunday i made the trek south of 7 again (i'm a pro at this now) to go running with the pylons. we did a different route that included the escarpment up behind kelso. if you look real close you might see digger.

i'm the little blue speck to the left ...

conditions were a little icy, and i didn't have the cascrews, so i was even slower than usual. i think cy was done an hour before me - good gawd! and the captain was pretty fast too. digger 'almost' got lost a few times, but i managed to reel him back on track. didn't get a finishing shot, as the guys were pretty much changed and in the car waiting by the time i got in! hell, it was almost 4 and a half hours! and the krapper was, one of the guys had brought homemade brownies - ARGH - i'm on this stoopid 6 week challenge, so i couldn't have one! now THAT just about killed me!

i have to laugh when someone says it's going to suck when we get to 30 - it sucks at ONE in my opinion!!!

missing ...

has anybody seen this man - he appears to have disappeared from the caledon area, and facebook ...

he's pretty tall, and has two wicked tattoos - one being a very kool dragon on his ribs. he is very loud! he loves to mountain bike, and is known for crashing into things and ending up in the hospital. he can change a tire in 90 seconds flat. his favorite food is the butter tart. he was last spotted riding a bike with george hincapie

any information on him would be greatly appreciated ...

box jumps ...

so let's see, it's day 6 of the royal burpee challenge. i have 13 people on board and so far so good! HOWEVER, the wod at crossfit bolton for today is 150 of the fuckers! argh!

tuesday was an easy 90 minutes in palgrave with everhard. little icy but way better than the weekend. crossfit was finding our 10 rep max effort at deadlifts. i made it to 180! yay! wednesday was a nasty, hilly 20 minute tempo run, followed by more hill repeats. good gawd! with about an hour to spare, i scarfed down some chicken and coconut water, and made my way in to bolton for my weekly leadville training session with the mighty one.

so let's line up 6 boxes, measuring from 16-22", hold onto this 15lb medicine ball, and jump from one end to the other, within 20 seconds. if you miss, you have to do 50 back squats with a 45lb bar on your back. 'what if i miss 10 times?' 'then we'll negotiate ...' you have a 10 second rest after each one BUT you have to do it for 16 minutes ...

bahaha! like a gazelle!

and it didn't help that he kept making the boxes higher! i just thought i was getting tired!

when it was all said and done, i couldn't believe that i hadn't incurred a nasty abrasion on the shins, or kracked out my teeth, and that i had managed to complete every set within the time limit.

i got an email from him today stating, 'next time we destroy the hamstrings' ...

gawd help me !

chocolate ninja turtles ...

by sunday, my legs were pretty much done. it took a lot of energy, and whining, to get the time in. we'd had some fresh pow the night before, so the trails were a teeney bit better, as in, not quite as icy!

even everhard was feeling it - i actually caught him walking up a couple of hills!

regardless, it was a beauty of a day, and the time went by fast.

saturday was day one of the 115 royal burpee challenge ...

so after a 2 and a half hour skid-fest on icy single track in palgrave, i finished with one snow burpee ...


thursday was leadville training day, so first i did a bunch of back squats to get the legs 'warmed up', before moving to the 'trash wod'. this week the mighty one rigged up 2 bands, tied them to the pull-up post, and made me strap it around my waist.

i then had to run as fast as i could to this kettlebell, as many times as possible, without catapulting myself on the way back, for 20 seconds. i pretty much made 5 reps each time.

next i had 10 seconds to get out of the band, pick up 2 dumbbells weighing 30lbs each, and do as many lunge steps as i could in 20 seconds. this went on for 16 minutes - i ended up doing something like 150 lunges - it just about killed me!

who knew - the mighty one is an artist on top of all his other talents. we love turtles - especially ninja turtles -even better - chocolate ninja turtles ...

friday night club was packed! i was really pleased with my wod - got 17 rounds of cindy! wahoo!

AND, we just found out that crossfit indestri is hosting their winterfest competition again this year - end of march! so me, lisa, marsala and hopefully sara will be on a team! yahoo! crossfit ladies rock! we will call ourselves 'alex's bitches'.

115 royal burpee challenge

the ghetto girls wanted to test their deadlifts this week, so we worked up to their one rep max. incredible results! jan (who couldn't do a back extension when i first met her) got up to 115 lbs. and marion and andreaaaaa were only 10 lbs apart, with 175 and 165 respectively! OUTSTANDING!!

coach spaff was way up north last week doing the 'yukon arctic ultra 100 miler, so i was on my own in regards to training. this is his race report, and i was so excited to see him come in second! and finish it in under 24 hours! it was a hundred frikken miles! and he pulled a sled the whole way! good gawd man - are you insane ????!!!

so, like i was saying, i was left to my own devices this week. i figured i'd been working pretty hard lately, so i thought i'd earned a break from all those stoopid seizure repeats and hill climbs (not that i don't climb a lot living in caledon). that, and that lazy old everhard had to work - you know, being a firefighter and all - so i really slacked off! yesterday i ran up k2 - major ice issues - impossible without the cascrews - for about an hour and a half!

gawd help me - i hear we have to do 100 burpees for time at cf tonight! argh!

tuesday i just putzed around in palgrave for an hour and a quarter - again with the cascrews!

last sunday me and everhard did almost 4 hours on the bruce. we started at cooli's and ran through the tai chi center, across airport road, and to the TOP of the ski hill steps.

ahh! a job well done! legs felt great!

and well, you know how i always bitch about burpees, well, being the idiot i am, i signed up for this ...

the 115 royal burpee challenge is basically this ...

Those who join us in the challenge will start with a single burpee on Feb. 11. On Feb. 12, the second day, we will do two burpees. On Feb. 13, the third day, we will do three burpees. We will continue adding a burpee to our daily workout until June 4, when we will do 115 burpees in honor of what would be Royal H. Burpee’s 115th birthday. Over the course of the challenge, athletes will do a total of 6,670 burpees.
