happiness is a dry pair of sox . . .

did my last long run for 2011. not really cold out, but just enough snow, at just the right temperature, where every footstep is like plodding through a slushy. i was thinking when i left, and stuck a pair of dry sox in my pack, which i put on at the top of k2.

the birthday tree was amazing - totally blanketed in ice . . .

after 3 hours, i was cold and very wet (all the snow kept falling down off the trees). dunc had just donated a stove to the treehouse the other day, so i threw on a pair of my momma spafford sox and chucked my arse down in front of it for an hour to warm everything up! mmmmm! glorious heat!

friday night was kool! me and dunc went for a ski in albion. now it's been a few years since i last tried motoring myself around on 2 skinny boards, and my waxing skills were non-existent! as a result, i had absolutely no grip, and was forced to 'muscle' myself around the trails. funniest was when i lost control on a hill, yelled 'incoming' and made dunc sprint on his skis to avoid me crashing into him! 'must get waxless skis' . . .

thursday i got miss luscious, everhard, and to-nay and the lovely lia from cfb to run in palgrave!

i wasn't even close to keeping up with to-nay! next time i'm making him wear a weighted vest!

angry birds

got the best hat from moose for christmas! ahahahaha! the 'bomb bird' - LOVE it!

felt really good to hit the trails again. did 2:30 with everhard on monday. despite his appearance, I was still in tights!

and then back to crossfit bolton on tuesday - father jimmy was so mean! made us do deadlifts and burpees! i ended up with 90 of each, with the deads at 185lbs - owwwww!

and as for the shorts - couldn't do it wednesday! temp was in the minus doubles, and the wind was ugly. so i dusted off the tights and plodded through albion with everhard.

we then did some 'seizure repeats' on the rail trail. the 3" of fresh pow made them even more challenging than usual, but we got 'em done . . .

and wednesday night my ghetto girls (and ian) dug out the dions and rocked palgrave forest!! it was awesome!!!

after way too many attempts at the timer on my camera, and the flash not working, and a few hissy fits, or 'going angry bird' as dunc put it, we just got ian to take a group shot!

so i guess i'd better get back out on the dions, cuz me and everhard have foolishly signed up for a snowshoe marathon in vermont in march - that's 42k - what the fuck was i thinking . . .

were the words uttered out of the little redhead's mouth when he got up into the chair. 'good grief - this could go SO wrong', i whispered to my favorite sister! 'um, they didn't teach us THAT one in hair dresser school . . .' was the response from the adorable panic stricken stylist!!?

BUT holy krap! she did it! he actually DID look like a wolf when all was said and done!! crisis averted!!!

i spent an amazing week with my favorite sister and my incredible little redheaded nephew ben. we had the best christmas E-VER!

and before i knew it, it was time to go.

jacked up on way too much sugar, i got on the plane and headed back to ontario. i miss them already (big big sad face).

got in a long run saturday - up k2 and over to hwy 9. temp was about -7, but still warm enough for shorts!!

so ghetto . . .

ran into barb and richard on the way back down.

crossfit bolton christmas party!

after doing some push jerks (wahoo - i pb'd at 110lbs) and then some deadlifts and handstand push-ups, we got together for our pic and headed to the sushi place for our crossfit christmas party!

as before, i never really had a clue what i was eating, but it was still pretty good.
