4 hours in hockley

me, onions and everhard managed to get our arses out on the trail from the 5th line around 10:15. not bad by pylon standards - only 15 minutes behind schedule. and speaking of pylon rules, onions was pushing regulation 3, substandard g of the code by wearing tights on the last allowed day - tomorrow shorts are mandatory. naturally i was in shorts, and everhard donned his just cuz he was afraid not to!

nice little downhill to begin, and then we climbed, and climbed, and climbed. made it to the 15th in under 50min this time, and snapped this shot at the end of someone's driveway - silly onions!

we made it to the top of hockley in about an hour - i can't remember exactly - and headed down toward the road. the trilliums are up !!!!

as usual, i was the slowest, but the guys waited for me on hockley road ...

we checked out the new section, went through the golf course, over the ski hill, and finally the last 'block' before the 5th. man what a beauty day!

i did my fucking burpees - 50 of them - just before the final climb. neither of the guys offered to do them with me ...

and then, up the big hill to the cars. just under 4 hours with close to 6000' climbing!

i've said it before, and i'll say it again ...

I LOVE HOCKLEY !!!

2012 crossfit games done ...

after completing my 46 burpees during my run on tuesday - an awesome run through palgrave i might add - see pics below - i went into cf bolton and was made to do 73 more. *sigh*

what a sweet day - did an effortless 1:20 and was for sure feeling the trail love.

the lovely mrs p made it to class on monday!! how come she's doing all the work,

while the 2 guys are just standing around ...

great job lori and even greater doing a workout with you!!

sunday was really nice so i took the misfit to inglewood and visited with don at the bike shop. of course i had to pick up a few things - hay - a girl can't have too many pairs of sox ...

even bumped into one of my clients - heiko with his wife marce - so he actually DOES ride his bike ...

saturday i did an easy 2 hours in palgrave - again - felt really good! then went over to dunc's and had him cook dinner for HIS birthday. much safer than me trying to do it for sure!! hay! at least i managed to come up with some half decent gifts this time!!

and friday saw me doing the last workout of the 2012 games. I SUCKED! hahaha! guess who CAN'T do chest to bar !? well, i can get high enough, but i just can't get the girls to touch the bar. poor thomas was cringing every time he had to call 'no rep', but it sure wasn't his fault!! as a result i only ended up with 30 reps - 18 thrusters (ew) and 12 chest to bar.

oh well, the whole experience was great, and it gave me a chance to see how i measured up against other females my age. in the end, i finished 54th out of 334 worldwide in the 50-54 age group. more exciting though is that both the mighty alex and father jimmy qualified for regionals, placing 34th and 35th respectively in the open men division for canada east! RIGHT ON !!!

and holy shit - look who decided to come back - FEDON !!! me and my super strong sexy friend lisa were beyond happy!! now if we can just work on luca and adam ...

speaking of birthdays - a huge happy one for coach derrick on the 26th!! you da best !!!

and finally, today is day 48 of the royal burpee challenge - that makes 1176 so far!!

only 5494 to go ...

crossfit games workout 12.5 - i was hoping for a 50k run ...

well, believe it or not, we're up to day 42 of the royal burpee challenge! that's a total of 903 so far! very exciting and NOBODY has quit! i won't let them!!

had some 'fun' with the mighty one and the prowler on thursday! pushed it (actually sprinted with it) around the parking lot for about a quarter mile while lucas chased me!

that hurt ...

and so after the fourth workout of the crossfit games i found myself in 42nd place in the 50-54 age group. i thought, hmmm, what would be the best thing to bump me up into the top twenty?! I KNOW! a 50k run! imagine my disappointment when they announced THIS wednesday night ...

baha! as if i'll get beyond 9 reps! i can do both of these, just not very fast. oh well! will give it my best!

i got an email from the mighty one on tuesday - ' Are you running today? If so when and where?' yikes! the last time he came with me, he took down a tree, rolled both ankles and ended up walking shirtless down coolihans (not that i minded that part). so i was a little leery! we decided albion double track was probably safest, especially considering he hasn't been able to run for a year due to a nasty knee injury! i am happy to report that it went well - all body parts still together and no trees were harmed! and he took his shirt off ...

me and kim finished our 6 week paleo challenge on monday. she did outstanding - losing a ton of inches! she looks amazing!

i lost a total of 6", mostly from my boobs and belly. not sure i look much different, but i sure feel better! miraculously i haven't eaten ANY sugar - other than gels on my long runs - since we started. and my coffee is still 'creamless' ! check out the cheezy before/after shots ...

sitting on the deck ...

oh man - what a weekend! thanks to dunc, i found an incredible route to train on for leadville. it involves hockley valley, and the hockley heights sidetrail, and if i knew how to use my frikken garmen thingy properly, i could have figured out the elevation! ffs's!! regardless, it was a super sweet day, and i dragged moose out with me. 'please tell us where to go little trail gnome ...'

after a really nasty set of climbs - i have no idea how dunc got his bike up there - we finally reached the top!

after this, we did a bit of road and then headed back down the bruce trail through hockley valley. they had re-routed part of the trail just south of hockley valley road which provided yet one more long grind - followed by a really neat forest section. and - haha - as we got to the ski hill, there were still people snowboarding! good grief!!

all i know is, we did a shit load of climbing! i was feeling pretty good, and even managed to bump the pace after 3 hours - coach's instructions - although it almost killed me! poor moose hasn't been out much, so i kinda broke him. here's a shot of his final death march up the 5th line hill ...

i think i did around 17+ miles in 4 hours. i know, slow as shit, but who cares! it was a beauty day and i for sure want to get the rest of the 'leadville-ites' up here for a run or two.

after i did my 37 stoopid burpees, i went over to dunc's and hung out on the deck with him and indy for awhile. too nice!

on saturday, i kinda realized that i hadn't been on my bike since gawd knows when, so i decided to swap my easy 60min run for a spin on the rail trail. came across this guy with his 3 dogs! also realized my 'biking' muscles were sorely out of shape. got to get them ready for my 'coffee rides' coming up soon ...

i then headed into cf bolton to watch the mighty alex and father jimmy do workout 12.4. it was really wild! they had their wallballs done in just over 6 minutes ...

after a few stumbles on the double unders, they settled down, got them done and quickly moved on to the dreaded muscle ups!

insane! in just twelve minutes, they managed 150 wallballs, 90 double unders and 17 muscle ups! i can't even imagine!

i did mine on friday. and seeing as how i can't do a fucking muscle up yet - and may never be able to do one - i finished with 240 points (150 wallballs and 90 double unders). check out our new t-shirts!!

oh ya - friday night club! alex and his ladies!

i have to laugh at one of my clients - mark. when i first started training him, i almost killed him. i made him skip a little, and thought he was going to need that heart re-starting thingy! he got better at that, even got his own rope, but then he got cocky - said the workouts were too easy. so i made him do squat thrusters! that shut him up for a bit. and then, last saturday he was heard saying that 'if he had a gun, he'd shoot that bitch' - meaning me, of course! and earlier in the week, he was complaining that he had hired the wrong trainer - 'look at those 2 over there with their trainers, they're just sitting around, why can't we do that ...' both of which i take as compliments! and then, check out the sign he posted on his back for our session on friday ...

back on the prowler

i walked into cf bolton on thursday for my weekly thrashing with the mighty one, kinda thinking it might be fun to get the prowler out for the first time this year. 'i think we should use the prowler today', says he. good grief, can this guy read my mind now too!?

so after a bunch of back squats for strength, we loaded it up with 255lbs, and he had me do 15 second intervals. i think i did around 16 of them. LOVE THE PROWLER!

andreaaaaaaaa showed up at ghetto wednesday sporting the latest in 'ass-kicking' boots! awesome! and speaking of phenomenal ghetto girls, andreaaaaaaaa, anna v and marion all deadlifted 200lbs on monday, AND, the powerhouse rene easily lifted 215lbs! i got some work to do ...

and, it was bound to happen, the inevitable - muscle-ups! yep! they're in the 4th workout for the 2012 crossfit games. at first i was figuring i'm screwed, but then when i actually broke it down, it's not so bad. i know i can do 150 wallballs in about 6 or 7 minutes, and then 90 double-unders in maybe another couple minutes, so really, i'd only have about 3 or 4 minutes left for the stoopid muscle-ups. i am pretty sure i can get at least 240 points, and, i'm hoping a lot of the other 50-54 year olds aren't able to do them either!!!

holy krap! just look at the sticker trailman got for me! my 2 favorite sayings all in one!! OUTSTANDING!!!

sunday was long run day. i discovered very early on that my legs were pretty tired from all the week's antics. most of the hills just about killed me, and there was a bit of walking going on, and a bunch of whining too! i went from humber station up to hwy 9 and threw in a bit of the dingle.

still a bunch of ice and snow the closer i got to hwy 9 ...

sap was running up by centerville creek!

so i put in 3 hours, and finished with my burpees.

and already we're at day 34 of the 115 royal burpee challenge, for a total so far of 595. despite a few misses, and then catch-ups, i'm really pleased to report that everyone is still going!!

stoopid burpees!
