forging elite fitness . . .

so it was exactly a year ago that i mustered up the courage to walk through this door . . .

the first thing i saw was this sign . . .

and past the sign, i saw this . . .

right before i ran into this guy . . .

who wanted me to do pull-ups on this . . . HA HA - you're kidding, right ?!

and so over the next 12 months, i was made to do a lot of bizarre things . . .

while being coached, encouraged, corrected and sometimes yelled at by these people . . .

i was lucky enough to meet a lot of incredibly strong, beautiful individuals . . .

and a few characters . . .

and of course, being me, i incurred a few injuries along the way . . .

stoopid pull-ups . . .

don't land the bar ON your chest . . .

stoopid pull-ups . . .

don't drop the bar ON your foot . . .

DOH !

stoopid pull-ups . . .

i even managed to get that really big guy out running . . .

AND do a competition !!

for me, the most fun is at our friday night club - even when the workouts just about kill me !

oh ya - one more thing - i did manage to get my ass up on that bar finally - stoopid fucking pull-ups !!!!!

and so a big monster thanks to all the truly amazing people at crossfit bolton who are standing along side me every time i hear '3,2.1, GO ! ' you're all incredible and i can't think of a better place to spend a friday night !

love you all !!!

  1. Kendra,
You are a great athlete. You always impress me with your adventures. Thank you for always putting in such a great effort- I always enjoy working (and killing myself) alongside you. You are motivating and inspiring. I think it is safe to say that we are all happy you decided to walk through that very intimidating door. Remember Kendra, we will always have something very special between us...the 1.5 Pood Kettlebell!
    See you Friday night!

  3. Wow! This is awesome Kendra :)

Crossfit has definitely changed alot of peoples lives. The one thing that amazes me is the women. I expect to see guys grind through Crossfit workouts, but never expected to see women do the same workouts. I come from the old school gyms where women typically spend more time chatting at the water fountain than actually working out!

But the women of Crossfit have changed all that. Infact, there are a few women who crush the GUYS times repeatedly! Damn you!!!

Just kidding. I'm totally impressed by everyone who does Crossfit. I always refer to us as "athletes". There's no other word that describes what we are better than that. Everything we do is truly a test to our fitness and atheletic abilities.

I know that Crossfit has definitely changed my life forever as well as the lives of many others. I too remember not being able to do one pullup...compared to 40 in a row now when I did Angie! I would never have beleived it.

I constantly tell my wife about Crossfit and how effective it is. If only I could get her to join us...she just doesn't realize how much fun we have. Maybe one day...

Anyway, thanks for creating this blog Kendra. It speaks volumes of how much satisfaction Crossfit brings to our lives.

    Cheers!

  5. Kendra!

I love this!! You've illustrated the journey of crossfit so perfectly! I always refer to the experience and the amazing people as a "crossfit family" because we've really grown with eachother and support eachother and have seen eachother through some brutal times and no one on the outside can truly understand what goes on behind those doors!

I've told you many times how much you inspire me as an athlete and a person and I KNOW you have the same effect on many of the other crossfitters in our little family!

Keep at it Kendra, you are AMAZING and I look forward to seeing what you will accomplish in the coming year!
