doctor joe goes heli skiing ...

a few of us went in on good friday to train!  it was a blast!  we even got a half decent selfie thanks to father jimmy's gorilla arms ...

easter weekend was a good back-to-back.  did the humber station to glenn haffy route on saturday for just over 3 hours.  love all the green moss ...

the pirate stream ...

water was really clear ...

beauty shot of the sky ...

by the gore ...

just lying around ...

i took this one after a 40 minute run with eddy on the rail trail tuesday! kinda kool how i managed to catch the sun ...

this view put me in a great mood friday morning!  so lucky to see stuff like this ...

this saturday i headed back up the palgrave sidetrail and made it ALMOST to the lookout north of 9.  for the most part the trails are awesomely clear now.  EXCEPT for this wall of snow ...

there was no way i was getting up that!!

put in a solid 4 hours.  legs were somewhat kranky at first, but i warmed up after about an hour and finished strong!  yay!   once i stretched and crawled back into my car, i had my usual 'post-run breakfast' at the archtop cafe in bolton!     mmmm - extra bacon!

and then after a bunch of stuff at sunday mass - all i fucking remember is 60 burpees - we went out for breakfast club!  mmmm - lots of bacon!  and i just LOVE toni's (with an i) cute little face ...

monday was back to the rail trail with eddy.  we did a solid 5.5km - and i think i'm getting the hang of it.  what's next - this maybe ...

the weather has finally warmed up JUST enough that the ghetto girls can train outside.   marion couldn't make it on monday, so we thought we'd cheer her up with a 'selfie' ...

and it's about time i give a huge 'shout out' to one of my clients - doctor joe!  i've been training him for quite a few years, and it's always an adventure.  well, last summer, july 7 to be exact, doctor joe fell down the stairs (he still maintains his wife janner pushed him).  this resulted in a total tear of his quadriceps muscle, and tears of the lateral and medial meniscus.  after surgery on july 12, he was put in a cast for 2 months.  on september 18, he was able to get back to the gym, with the intention of just getting his leg strength back up to where it was.  it was a slow process - starting out with single leg presses at just 10lbs.  throughout the fall we kept upping the weights and then working on regaining some of his balance.  now i can't remember the exact date, but sometime around christmas, he informed me that he had been invited to go heli skiing in british columbia the end of march, and did i think it was possible!  good grief!

so we really started busting ass!  it was fun!  i had him drag me around the track while holding on to ski poles and doing quarter turns, i had him pushing the back extension bench (weighted) up and down the hallway of the gym - all to the amusement of the other members.  the best part - we got his one-leg press up to 125!  not bad at all!  after our final session on april 28, i gave my little fledgling a big hug and sent him on his way.  the result - well this photo pretty much says it all ...

soooooo proud of his achievement!  he worked his ass off and he made it happen!  LOVE IT!  you're awesome doctor joe!
